Former BCL district president arrested in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, JAN 15, 2026 (BSS) - Asif Sarker, former president of the banned Bangladesh Chhatra League, district unit, was arrested by DB (Detective Branch) police on Wednesday night.
 
Officer in charge (OC) of DB police Nazrul Islam said that Asif was involved in several cases, including sabotage.

He went into hiding after the July mass uprising. He was a wanted criminal by the police.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of DB police conducted a drive and arrested him from his house located at College Para in the town on Wednesday night, the OC said.

DB police handed him over to Sadar Thana police for taking the next course of lawful action.
