Winter clothes distributed among helpless people in Rajbari

RAJBARI, Jan 14, 2026 (BSS) - Blankets and winter clothes were distributed 
among poor and cold-stricken people of the district on Wednesday, organised 
by the district branch of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society.

Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhter attended the programme as the chief guest 
while Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Tarif ul Hasan and Additional 
Deputy Commissioner (ICT) Shankar Chandra Vaidya were present as special 
guests. 

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Rajbari District Branch Vice-President 
Professor (Retd) Manjurul Alam Dulal, its General Secretary Nazrul Islam, and 
other officials were also present.

Speakers at the event emphasized that it is a humanitarian duty to support 
those who were affected by cold weather. They also urged the wealthy and 
other community members to contribute such charitable initiatives.

Deputy Commissioner Sultana Akhter personally distributed blankets to the 
affected people at Rajbari Sadar Railway Station and along the banks of the 
Urakanda River, as well as in Goalanda and Basantapur.

The district administration has already distributed 5,000 blankets across 
five upazilas and allocated Taka 6 lakh for the distribution of winter 
clothes in each upazila.
