NAOGAON, Jan 23, 2026 (BSS) - An elderly motorcyclist was killed when a truck hit his motorbike at Patnitala upazila of the district today.

The deceased was identified as Abdul Jabbar, 72, son of late Safi Uddin of Sardarpara area of the upazila.

According to police and local sources, the accident occurred at Katabari intersection on the Najipur-Naogaon road. Abdul Jabbar was riding his motorcycle towards Naojipur around noon when a speeding truck coming from opposite direction lost control and hit his motorcycle.

He sustained critical injuries in the collision. Local residents rushed him to the Patnitala Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty physician declared him dead.

Mehedi Hasan Mousumi, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Patnitala Police Station, said the truck driver was arrested following the incident. The truck involved in the accident has been seized and brought to the police station.
