Fish trader killed in Patuakhali road accident

PATUAKHALI, Jan 24, 2026 (BSS) - A fisheries trader was killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a motorcycle in Kalapara upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Dilip Roy, 28, son of Debesh Roy of Neyamatpur village under Nilganj Union.

The accident took place around 7:00 am at Chalimpur area on the Kalapara-Kuakata highway when a bus named 'Seven Deluxe' coming from the opposite direction hit a motorcycle from the opposite direction, leaving the bike rider Dilip dead on the spot, said Officer-in-Charge of Kalapara Police Station, Rabiul Islam.

Police and local sources said Dilip was on his way to the Kalapara Chowrasta fish market from his residence, riding his own motorcycle. 

He used to earn his livelihood by trading fish and also by driving a pickup van.

The OC Rabiul Islam said the bus involved in the accident has been seized and the body recovered and taken to the police station.

"Next legal action is underway," he added.
