Coast Guard detains two with ganja, yaba in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - The Coast Guard arrested two alleged drug 
dealers along with ganja and yaba in a special operation in Bagerhat on 
Monday afternoon.

Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq told BSS on Monday 
evening that acting on a secret tip-off, members of Coast Guard Base Mongla 
conducted the operation in the area adjacent to Chulkati Bazar under Fakirhat 
Police Station.

During the operation, the Coast Guard arrested Shahidul Islam, 52, of Alutola 
village under Luanthara Police Station in Khulna, and Yasir Ali, 25, of 
Haldibunia village under Koyra Police Station, and seized 2 kilograms of 
ganja and 200 pieces of yaba, worth around Taka 1.64 lakh.

Legal action against the arrested persons is currently underway, he said.

Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq also said the Coast Guard will continue such 
operations to protect the youth from the clutches of drugs.
