One killed, seven injured in Dinajpur road accident

DINAJPUR, Jan 27, 2026 (BSS) – A man was killed and seven others, including a child, were injured in a road accident at Birol upazila of the district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased was identified as Shamsul Uddin, 45, a resident of Baniapara village of the upazila.

According to police sources, the accident occurred around 11:00 am at the Baniapara intersection when a private car lost control and rammed into a motorcycle, two vans and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw before crashing into a mango tree.

Birol Police Station Officer-in-Charge Inspector Md. Al Emran confirmed the matter and said the car first hit a motorcycle near the intersection and then collided with two vans and a CNG some distance away.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Biral Upazila Health Complex where three critically injured persons were later shifted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital (DMCH). Shamsul Uddin succumbed to his injuries around 12:00 noon, hospital sources said.

The driver of the private car fled the scene following the accident. Legal action is being taken in this regard, police added.
