KHULNA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Journalist Protect Committee (BJPC) on
Sunday provided laptops to nine women journalists to enhance professional
skills and improve the quality of journalism.

The laptops were distributed at a programme held at the Humayun Kabir Balu
auditorium of the Khulna Press Club this morning with funding from a Canadian
donor organisation and support from Article Nine.

BJPC President Kaushik Dey presided over the programme while its General
Secretary Anisur Rahman Kabir conducted the event. Convener of the Khulna
Press Club Enamul Haque attended the event as a guest.

Speakers at the programme included BJPC Executive Member Mostafa Jamal Poplu,
Independent Television Assignment Editor Mahmuda Akhter Moumita, BFUJ Joint
Secretary General Md Hedayet Hossain Molla, Ekushey Television Divisional
Head Ashraful Islam Noor, Jugantor Khulna Divisional Head Ahmed Musa Ranju,
Daily Probaho News Editor Mehdi Masud Khan, Nur Hossain Jony, Mohammad Milon,
Mosleh Uddin were present, among others.

At the programme, the laptops, donated by the Canadian organisation, were
handed over to nine women journalists working in Khulna, Dhaka, Gopalganj and
Bagerhat.

Speakers said women constitute more than half of the country's total
population, yet their participation in journalism remains comparatively low.

They stressed that overall development is not possible without ensuring
women's advancement and called for stronger and more visible participation of
women in journalism.

They also noted that women are demonstrating their capabilities both at home
and in the workplace and expressed hope to see them in higher positions,
saying no barrier can hold them back.
