PATUAKHALI, Feb 07, 2026 (BSS)- Long-standing drinking water crisis for over a hundred residents of a Ashrayan project in Rangabali upazila has been resolved through a local youth initiative.

Leaders and activists of the Charmontaz Union unit of Chhatra Dal repaired two redundant tube wells at the shelter project site using their own funds.

Out of the three tube wells in the area, two had been out of order for a long time. Acute water crisis forced the locals including fishermen to live on saline water leading to significant health hazard for them.

The repair work was carried out under the leadership of Union Chhatra Dal President Mithon Matubbar, Joint General Secretary Md. Rakib, and Rajshahi University unit leader Rashat, among others.

“We took this humanitarian initiative considering the suffering of the underprivileged people living in the shelter project,” Mithon said during resumption of the operation of the tube wells.
