MAGURA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS) – The National Consumer Rights Protection Department in Magura has fined a restaurant owner Taka 20,000 for preparing food in unhygienic conditions during a mobile court drive conducted today in the Sajiara area of Sadar upazila.

The two-hour operation uncovered multiple irregularities at “Ms. Rakib Hotel,” officials said.

Assistant Director Sajal Ahmed, who led the drive, told BSS that inspectors found food being cooked in a dirty environment, while prepared food items were left uncovered on the floor.
Moreover, staff members were involved in cooking without washing their hands after using the toilet.

The team also discovered the use of banned and unauthorized food colors. In addition, raw fish and meat were stored alongside cooked food in the same refrigerator, violating food safety regulations.

District Food Safety Officer Suman Adhikari and members of the Magura District Police assisted in the operation.
