KHULNA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS)- A meeting of the committee formed to confer the Vice-Chancellor Award at Khulna University (KU) was held today to discuss policies and guidelines for recognizing outstanding research contributions by teachers.

The meeting was held at 11:30am at the conference room of the university’s administrative building with Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Rezaul Karim in the chair.

The committee discussed in detail the formulation of modern and time-befitting guidelines for the Vice-Chancellor Award, alongside preparing separate guidelines for introducing an “Emerging Faculty Award.”

Vice-Chancellor said the university’s progress in research has now become clearly visible. He noted that through the relentless efforts of teachers, Khulna University has been able to build a strong position in the field of research.

He said the Vice-Chancellor Award is aimed at properly evaluating and encouraging faculty members for their significant contributions to research and directed the authorities concerned to ensure the nomination of deserving candidates in a fair and appropriate manner.

The Vice-Chancellor also observed that research-oriented interest among students is increasing. To encourage them, the university is providing research grants at the Master’s and PhD levels, while research support is also being extended to undergraduate students.

Deans of various schools and the director of the Research and Innovation Centre, among others, attended the meeting.
