DHAKA, Feb 16, 2026 (BSS)- Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin will administer oath to the newly elected members of parliament at 10am tomorrow.
Election Commission (EC) Secretariat Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed told BSS today that the oath-taking ceremony will be held at the oath-taking room of the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat here.
“The Chief Election Commissioner will administer the oath to the elected members of parliament and members of the Constitution Reform Council of the 13th National Parliament at 10 am on February 17,”according to a Election Commission letter.
The letter was signed by Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed and sent to the Secretary of the Bangladesh National Parliament Secretariat today.
According to official results of the 13th national parliament election, the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secured 209 seats out of 297 constituencies, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats.
The National Citizen Party (NCP) obtained six seats and independent candidates secured seven seats.
The BNP, which emerged as the majority party, received 49.97 percent of the votes under its electoral symbol ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, the second largest party in terms of seats, received 31.76 percent of the votes with its ‘Scale’ symbol, according to the EC.
The NCP contested 32 seats with its ‘Shapla Kali’ symbol and received 3.05 percent of the total votes.
A total of 50 political parties and 274 independent candidates participated in the 13th National Parliament election.
Although voting was held in 299 constituencies, the results of two constituencies in Chittagong—Chittagong-2 and Chittagong-4—were not announced due to court orders. Results for the remaining 297 constituencies have been declared, the EC secretary added.
The Election Commission had earlier postponed the election in the Sherpur-3 constituency following the death of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Nuruzzaman Badal.
