
DHAKA, April 3, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman along with his daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman watched a movie at a cinema hall in the capital this evening.
"The Hon'ble Prime Minister and his daughter watched the film 'Project Hail Mary' at the Shimanto Shombhar Cinema Hall at Jigatola in Dhanmondi here," said premier's Press Secretary Saleh Shibly.
The show started at 7:10 pm and ended at 10:10 pm, he said, adding that the Prime Minister went to the cinema hall as part of leisure on a weekend.
When the premier entered the cinema hall all lights were switched off, the press secretary said, adding, therefore, the audiences could not know that the Prime Minister was also watching the movie with them.
But, after the show ended, when the lights were switched on, the audiences were surprised to have seen the head of the government among them.
At that time, Tarique Rahman, also ruling BNP chairman, exchanged pleasantries with the audiences and inquired about their wellbeing, Shibly said.
The 2026 American science fiction film "Project Hail Mary," produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Drew Goddard, based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir, is currently being screened at Star Cineplex's Shimanto Shombhar branch in Dhanmondi on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Fitr.
The movie stars Ryan Gosling, Sandra Huller, James Ortiz, and Lionel Boyce and follows the story of Ryland Grace, a man who wakes up on an interstellar spacecraft with no memory of how he got there.
