RAJSHAHI, Feb 25, 2026 (BSS)- Women who have built strong positions for
themselves through unwavering courage and professional excellence despite
facing social adversity, discrimination, and various challenges are
recognised as "Adommya Nari" (Indomitable Women).

To acknowledge women's progress and capabilities, the "Indomitable Women"
award programme has been launched for the first time in the Rajshahi Division
this year, among the country's eight divisions.

Concerned officials believe this initiative will further accelerate women's
development and set positive examples in society.

With that objective, a reception ceremony was held today (Wednesday) at the
District Shilpakala Academy auditorium, where 40 women were honored as
"Indomitable Women" across five categories.

From a total of 40 participants at the divisional level, 10 were shortlisted
in the final round. From them, five were declared the best "Indomitable
Women" of the division.

The awards were given to the successful women in five respective categories
like economics, education and employment, successful mother, prevention of
repression and social development sectors.

The successful women are: Riju Tamanna, Sumaiya Islam, Mosammat Lata Khatun,
Rasheda Begum and Rajia Khatun.

Divisional Commissioner of Rajshahi Dr ANM Bazlur Rashid addressed the
ceremony as the chief guest.

"Women today are not only the backbone of families but also one of the
driving forces behind state and social development. Recognizing those who
move forward despite adversity means advancing society as a whole. This
recognition of indomitable women will serve as inspiration for future
generations," he said.

He further added that the life challenges of the 40 participating women in
the division could be documented and promoted through various publications
and media campaigns.

The administration will continue its full support to ensure women's
education, economic empowerment, and social security, Dr Bazlur Rashid added.

Riju Tamanna, nominated in the Education and Employment Achievement category,
said that women are capable of overcoming any challenge if given
opportunities.

Meanwhile, Sumaiya Islam, a finalist in the Outstanding Contribution to
Social Development category, said, "Women can rise again even from the brink
of destruction. I continue to work with the belief that I want to contribute
to the development of society."

The meeting was chaired by Additional Divisional Commissioner (General)
Mohammad Habibur Rahman while Additional Director of the Department of Women
Affairs welcomed the participants.

Special guests included Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range
Mohammad Shahjahan, District Commissioner Afia Akhtar and Deputy Police
Commissioner Md. Riaz ul Islam.

Speakers at the event said that this recognition of indomitable women is not
only an acknowledgment of personal achievements but also an important step
toward strengthening women's empowerment, dignity, and leadership in society.
