RAJSHAHI, March 1, 2026 (BSS) - An exchange of views was held between trainees and IDE Executive Director Noman Ahmed Khan on the progress, challenges, and future plans of skills development initiatives here today.

The meeting took place at the hall of the National Indigenous Peoples' Council in Ganokpara, Rajshahi.

The Executive Director of IDE, Noman Ahmed Khan, attended the event as the chief guest. Rajshahi Fellow Andreas Biswas Anu was also present.

The meeting was chaired by HRD Convener Choton Sardar. Local workshop owners, trainers, and trainees from various trades also participated.

During the exchange, the trainees spoke openly about their learning experiences, field-level realities, and preparations for entering the workforce.

Workshop owners emphasized the need to create skilled personnel, noting that while the demand for trained workers is increasing in the current market, professional ethics and punctuality are equally important alongside technical skills.

Many trainees expressed that their goal after training is to become self-reliant through self-employment, while some shared plans to establish small local initiatives.

In his speech, Noman Ahmed Khan said that skills development not only creates employment opportunities but also builds confidence and social dignity.

He emphasized that training should not remain limited to certificates but must translate into income and sustainable employment through real work.

He stressed the importance of time-bound work plans and setting clear objectives. Skills development training is a significant opportunity for marginalized and indigenous youth. With proper guidance and coordinated efforts, such programmes can positively impact the local economy.

At the conclusion of the event, participants expressed their commitment to making skills development initiatives more practical and effective.
