CUMILLA, Mar 1, 2026 (BSS) -Monirul Haque Chowdhury, Parliament Member for
Cumilla-6 constituency, today stressed the need for a coordinated initiative
to address congestion, waterlogging and unplanned urbanisation in Cumilla.

"The deteriorated city could be revived through joint efforts of the City
Corporation, Roads and Highways Department and Water Development Board," he
said while speaking as the chief guest at an exchange meeting with City
Corporation officials here.

"I pledged development to the people before the election. I saw damaged roads
almost everywhere during the election campaign. Now it is time to fulfil
those promises through action," he added.

He also expressed hope to extend the boundary of the City Corporation and
start the procedures immediately after the Eid.

He called for immediate formation of WASA, even under curfew if necessary,
and urged the City Corporation to submit an official proposal.

He warned against those involved in soil cutting from the Gomoti River.

He also stressed need for Reactivating the South Cumilla-North Noakhali
