Fugitive convict arrested in Rangpur

RANGPUR, March 11, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested a fugitive convict sentenced to five years and two-month jail term from the Barodorga Bazar area under Pirganj police station of Rangpur on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The arrested convict is Md Golap Mia, 44, son of late Golzar Hossain of village Ramnathpur under Pirganj police station of Rangpur district, said a press release here this afternoon.
 
Earlier, he was sentenced to death as an accused in a case filed against him at Mithapukur police station of Rangpur on July 13, 1995 under the Prevention of Violence against Women and Children Act 2000 (Amendment-2003).
 
The accused has been handed over to the Mithapukur police station for further legal proceedings.
