Magura, Mar 11, 2026 (BSS)- The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP), Magura district office conducted drive at Syed Atar Ali Road in Magura Sadar upazila to keep the market for essential commodities stable and protect consumer interests ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

The drive was carried out on Tuesday from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm, during which several clothing and cosmetics shops were inspected.

During the drive, a shop named “Messrs Deshi Vindeshi” was fined Taka 50,000 after evidence was found of violating the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009.

Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Magura district office, Sajal Ahmed told BSS that some products were being sold at higher price claiming them to be foreign, especially Pakistani. But the traders failed to provide any valid documents in support of the claim.

In addition, some imported cosmetics without proper importer tags were found being sold by attaching self-made price tags, which is considered a form of deception against consumers. As a result, the concerned establishment was fined under the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009 and warned to refrain from such irregularities in the future.

He also said that market monitoring activities will continue to ensure that no trader can increase the prices of goods unreasonably ahead of Eid.

Traders were also instructed to sell products at fair price, display price lists, maintain hygienic storage of goods, and preserve purchase and sale vouchers. Officials said such drives will continue in the public interest.
