All will work together to make Bagerhat drug-free: Sheikh Farid

BAGERHAT, Mar 15, 2026 (BSS) - State Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Sheikh Faridul Islam has said that they would work together to make Bagerhat free from drugs. 

 "The government will work to bring positive changes to the lives of climate-vulnerable communities," he said while speaking at an iftar organized by the Bagerhat Press Club at Bagerhat District Council Auditorium on Saturday evening as the chief guest.

The State Minister noted that funds from the Climate Change Trust are currently being used in various areas of the hill tracts and northern regions of the country. 

He assured that information and support from the Climate Trust Fund would also be utilized to resolve the problems related to safe drinking water and housing for people in the district.

He further said that four Members of Parliament from the district will make collective efforts to improve the infrastructures of Bagerhat district and address the challenges faced by people affected by climate change.

He also called the people from all sections of society to unite for the overall development of the district.

The iftar programme was presided over by Abu Sayeed Shunu, president of the Bagerhat Press Club where Member of Parliament (MP) from Bagerhat-1 constituency Maulana Moshiur Rahman, MP from Bagerhat-2 Sheikh Monjurul Haque and MP from Bagerhat-4 Mohammad Abdul Alim were present as special guests. 

The event turned into a lively gathering where participants reaffirmed their commitment to work together for the development of the district.

Among others, Superintendent of Police (SP) Bagerhat Hasan Chowdhury, Additional District Magistrate Mejbah Uddin, Bagerhat district BNP convener ATM Akram Hossain Talim, former district BNP president M A Salam, Bagerhat Jamaat's Nayeb-e-Ameer Advocate Abdul Wadud, Press Club Vice-President SM Raj, and General Secretary Hedayet Hossain Liton were present at the function.
