Trolley driver killed as train hits his vehicle in Jhenaidah

JHENAIDAH, March 15, 2026 (BSS) - A trolley driver was killed and another injured when a train struck an engine-driven trolley in Kotchandpur upazila of the district on Sunday morning.

The accident occurred around 11:30 am in Boro Bamondah Chhota Railgate area.

The deceased was identified as Alauddin, 50, son of Moslem Uddin of Ishwarba village under Kaliganj upazila of the district.

According to eyewitnesses, a brick-carrying trolley was returning to the brick kiln after unloading bricks at Boro Bamondah village in Kotchandpur. When the vehicle reached in Chhota Railgate area, it was hit by the Khulna-bound Sagardari Express train.

Alauddin, the driver of the trolley, died on the spot in the collision. The helper of the vehicle was seriously injured. Local residents rescued him and admitted him to Kotchandpur Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotchandpur Police Station Md. Asaduzzaman confirmed the matter.
