LAKSHMIPUR, March 22, 2026 (BSS) - A businessman was killed and three others were injured in a road accident in Sutargupta area on the Lakshmipur-Ramgati road under Sadar upazila of the district in the early hours of today.

The deceased was Shafiq Ullah, 45, of Sujan village under Ramgati upazila of the district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Lakshmipur Sadar Thana Md Wahid Parvej said the accident occurred when the driver of a CNG-run auto-rickshaw lost control over the steering and hit a roadside tree in the area, leaving four injured on the spot.
 
Being informed, police and locals rescued the wounded and sent them to Sadar Hospital where the duty doctors declared Shafiq dead, he said, adding, “The injured are going under treatment in the hospital.”

The body has been sent to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC further said.
