Four children die of measles symptoms at RMCH in 24 hours

RAJSHAHI, April 9, 2026 (BSS): Four children have died with symptoms of measles at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) in the last 24 hours.

The deaths occurred in the hospital's measles isolation ward between Wednesday morning and Thursday morning. 

However, the hospital authorities have not disclosed the identities of the deceased yet.

Dr Shankar Kumar Biswas, spokesperson for RMCH, said that 27 new patients with measles symptoms were admitted during this period, while 24 patients were discharged after recovery.

Currently, 132 patients with measles symptoms are undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 479 patients have been admitted to RMCH, of whom 50 have died so far, Dr Biswas added.
