Bodies of two missing fishermen recovered in Koyra

KHULNA, April 10, 2026 (BSS) - Divers of Fire Service and River Police today recovered the bodies of two fishermen who went missing on Tuesday afternoon during a storm while catching fish in a river in Koyra upazila of the district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Angtihara River Police Md Faruk Hossain said the bodies were recovered from the Arpangasia River this afternoon after two days of search.

On Tuesday afternoon, fishermen Upen Mridha, 50, Mukendu Mondal, 42, and Bipul Roy, 35, of Koyra upazila went to net fish in the Arpangasia River, adjacent to the Sundarbans.

During the storm, their boat capsized and two of them drowned in the river. However, Bipul Roy managed to reach the riverbank safely.

On information, divers of Fire Service and River Police rushed to the spot and began a search operation, the OC said.

The bodies were later handed over to their family members, he added.
