DHAKA, April 10, 2026 (BSS) - BanglaFact, the fact-checking unit of the Press Institute Bangladesh (PIB), has identified misinformation involving a viral video from the Bogura-6 by-election falsely claimed to show "fake voting" for the "Sheaf of Paddy" symbol.

BanglaFact said the footage actually shows a polling official applying an official seal on ballot papers as part of standard election procedures. 

The video was shared on social media with misleading claims of a "festival of fake votes," aiming to create confusion. Upon verification, the claim was found baseless.

Fact-checkers noted a rise in misinformation targeting Bangladesh since the 2024 Mass Uprising, including content involving the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and the current government.
