DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered to seize assets in the United Kingdom by BTCL official Hammad Mujib and others linked to him after a news surfaced about transactions of 260,681.25 EUR in his bank account.

The order was issued by Judge Md Shahjahan Kabir of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court following an application submitted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC Assistant Director and Investigating Officer Mahmudul Hasan filed the application to the court, Deputy Director of Public Relations of the commission Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the matter to BSS.
According to the application, the ACC is investigating the allegations of illegal acquisition of wealth and money laundering against Hammad Mujib. Information obtained through a Mutual Legal Assistance Request (MLAR) sent to Cyprus showed that 260,681.25 EUR was deposited into his bank account between March 2014 and April 2019.

Of the amount, 203,925.08 EUR was allegedly sent to his sister, Rahi Rahman in the UK as a “gift” for purchasing property. Another 20,489.97 EUR was reportedly sent to a college in the UK to cover the educational expenses of his son, Ragib Muhammad Akhiar.

The application further stated that the ACC had received information from a confidential source that Hammad Mujib and his associates were attempting to transfer or dispose of movable assets held in the UK.

The ACC said there was a risk of irreparable loss to the state if the assets are moved or otherwise disposed of.

It therefore sought permission to immediately freeze the assets and to send the necessary order to the relevant UK authorities through a Mutual Legal Assistance Request (MLAR).

Following the application, the court ordered the seizure of the assets.
