DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - A court here today ordered seizure of assets worth £5.30 million of NASA Group Chairman and former EXIM Bank Chairman Nazrul Islam Mazumder, his wife Nasrin Islam and others concerned.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Mohammad Rauful Islam, Deputy Director and team leader of the ACC’s Joint Investigation Team (JIT), filed the petition.
ACC Deputy Director of Public Relations Md Tanzir Ahmed confirmed the matter to BSS.
According to the ACC application, Nazrul Islam Mazumder and his wife Nasrin Islam are the ultimate beneficiaries of One Investments Limited, a Jersey-based company.
The company had £5.30 million in an account with UBS Jersey as of August 6, the application said.
The ACC alleged that the money was taken abroad without permission from the Bangladesh Bank and that information about foreign assets was concealed in income tax returns.
The application further alleged that money was laundered by illegally transferring funds abroad and purchasing assets in Jersey.
It said freezing or seizing the bank account of One Investments Limited, along with its movable and immovable assets in Jersey, was necessary to facilitate the recovery and repatriation of the funds.
