JS body for ensuring govt’s accountability in executing projects

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) – The parliamentary standing committee on the Ministry of Planning today emphasized making the committee more active to intensively review the progress of the implementation of the ongoing development project and to ensure the accountability of the government.

The parliamentary body took the decision in its first held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here with committee chairman and Prime Minister’s political adviser Zahir Uddin Swapon MP in the chair.

During the meeting, a report on the activities of the concerned ministry and its subordinate departments was presented and at the same time, discussion was taken place on the implementation progress of ongoing projects.

Attending the meeting, Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury who also a member of the committee, said the role of the committee is very much important to implement the projects.
 
He urged all the committee members and others concerned to enhance their cooperation to the concerned ministry through holding participatory programme to ensure the accountability of the government.

“The concerned parliamentary standing committee will do its duty accurately through ensuring the accountability of the government to the people”, said PM’s political adviser Zahir Uddin Swapon.
Other committee members participated in the meeting.
