228 held in Tejgaon, Mirpur anti-crime drives

DHAKA, Sept 8, 2026 (BSS) - The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 228 people in separate drives in the Tejgaon and Mirpur divisions on Monday, targeting crime-prone areas.

In the Tejgaon division, police arrested 98 people from different areas, according to DMP press release.

Of them, 22 were arrested by Tejgaon Police Station, eight by Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, 33 by Mohammadpur, 22 by Adabor, 10 by Tejgaon Industrial Area and three by Hatirjheel police stations.

Meanwhile, 130 people were arrested in the Mirpur division. 

The arrests included 28 by Mirpur Model Police Station, 17 by Shah Ali, 31 by Pallabi, 18 each by Kafrul and Darus Salam, 10 by Rupnagar and eight by Bhashantek police stations.

Police said the drives were conducted in crime-prone areas as part of regular and special operations. 

The arrested people were subsequently sent to court.
