Fugitive rapist of schoo lgirl held in Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR, April 10, 2026 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the main fugitive accused in a schoolgirl rape case from the North Bengal intersection area of Lalmonirhat district town on Thursday night.

 
The arrestee is Md Golap Mia, 30, son of Jonab Ali, of village Paschim Ambari Mahendranagar under Sadar police station of Lalmonirhat, said a press release issued by RAB-13’s Senior Assistant Director (Media) and Additional Superintendent of Police Biplab Kumar Goswami this afternoon.

  
Citing the statement of the complainant, the release said that the plaintiff and the main accused in the case Md Golap Mia of the same area are neighbors. 

 
The plaintiff's daughter, the victim, is a ninth-grade student. 

 
On February 20, 2026, the arrested accused Golap Mia forcibly raped the victim in the bedroom of Golap Mia's house against the victim’s will, tempting her to marry. 

 
On the victim’s screams, neighbors and witnesses rescued the victim from the house of accused Golap Mia.

 
Then, accused Golap Mia cleverly fled the scene. After the incident, the victim's father filed a rape case against accused Golap Mia at Lalmonirhat Sadar Police Station on February 24, 2026. 

 
Considering the importance of the sensational incident, RAB-13 started intelligence activities along with other law enforcement agencies to arrest the accused. 
 
Based on secret information, a team of the RAB-13 in a raid arrested the absconding main accused Md Golap Mia Mia from the North Bengal intersection area of Lalmonirhat town at 10:50 pm on Thursday.

 
The arrested accused has been handed over to Sadar police station in Lalmonirhat for further legal action, the release added.
