KHULNA, April 24, 2026 (BSS) - Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-6 arrested a fugitive convict during a drive in Khulna city on Thursday.

The arrested was identified as Biplob Sheikh, known as Bikram Sheikh, a resident of Chalitakhali area in Pirojpur district. 

The accused had been sentenced to a total of 12 and a half years' imprisonment in three drug-related cases and had been absconding, said a RAB press release today.

Acting on a tip-off, a RAB-6 team arrested a fugitive convict during a drive conducted on Thursday in front of the main gate of Khulna Medical College Hospital as part of its ongoing operations.

The arrestee has a total of nine cases filed against him in different police stations across Bagerhat, Pirojpur and Khulna metropolitan areas. Of these, seven are related to drugs, while the others include one assault case and one dacoity case.

Following his arrest, he was handed over to Sonadanga Police Station for further legal action, the release added.
