Two jailed for drug peddling in Ctg

CHATTOGRAM, April 29, 2026 (BSS) - A Chattogram court has sentenced two individuals to five years’ imprisonment each in a drug case filed with Chandgaon Police Station in the city.

The court also imposed a fine of Tk 10,000 each, with an additional three months’ imprisonment in default of payment.
The verdict was delivered today by Judge Afroz Jasmine Koli of the Chattogram 4th Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court.

The convicts, Md. Mahmud Islam, 42, and Md. Yasin, 30, are residents of Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar.
The accused were absent during the delivery of the verdict, and arrest warrants have been issued against them.

According to the case file, on the night of September 20, 2015, a patrol team from RAB-7, Chattogram, conducted a raid near Bahaddarhat Haque Super Market in the city based on a tip-off. Two individuals were caught while attempting to flee, and a search recovered a total of 1,000 Yaba tablets — 600 from Mahmud Islam and 400 from Yasin.

A case was filed with Chandgaon Police Station.
