Govt launches paddy-rice procurement drive in Naogaon

NAOGAON, May 17, 2026 (BSS) - The government’s direct paddy-rice procurement program for the current Boro season was officially inaugurated today at Badalgachi Upazila Food Warehouse of the district.

Member of Parliament from Naogaon-3 constituency and Joint General Secretary of the Central Krishak Dal Fazle Huda Babul inaugurated the programme as the chief guest.

Speaking at the event, MP Babul emphasized that the government’s direct procurement initiative aims to ensure fair prices for farmers. “This program will not only benefit our farmers but also play a significant role in strengthening the country’s food security,” he said.

Officials informed that a total of 1,229 metric tons of paddy will be procured directly from farmers in Badalgachi upazila at Taka 36 per kilogram this season. In addition, the government has set a target to procure 309 metric tons of parboiled rice at Taka 49 per kilogram and 156 metric tons of wheat at Taka 36 per kilogram from millers.
