Library set up for prisoners at Munshiganj district jail

MUNSHIGANJ, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - A library has been set up at Munshiganj District Jail to support the mental and moral development of prisoners and accused persons housed there.

The prison library was officially inaugurated on Monday by Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi. 

Among others present at the inauguration ceremony were Additional District Magistrate Md. Rezaul Karim, Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Md. Imran Ahmed, Jail Superintendent Muhammad Enayet Ullah, and Deputy Director of the District Social Services Department Md. Fakhrul Ashraf.

According to jail authorities, the library contains books focused on religious teachings, morality, ethics, and human values aimed at encouraging positive change among inmates.

Officials expressed hope that the new library would create a constructive environment inside the jail and inspire inmates toward personal reform through reading and learning.
