DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today spent wonderful and joyful moments with children at the day-care center located at the Bhumi Bhaban in the city's Tejgaon area.

After inaugurating the "Land Service Fair-2026" around 11:15 am, the Prime Minister visited the "Children Day-Care Center" operated under the supervision of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs.

The center was filled with the sounds of children playing, cheerful laughter and joyful excitement. In that lively atmosphere, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman entered the day-care centre and spent around 18 minutes.

Ignoring the formalities of strict security, the Prime Minister mixed freely with the children as if he returned to his childhood.

The little children were overwhelmed with joy upon seeing the Prime Minister in their midst.

The children gathered around the premier excitedly. Some shook hands with him while others pulled him toward their toys.

A few eagerly showed the Prime Minister their drawings. The Prime Minister also carefully looked at the artwork and praised them with a candid smile.

Tarique Rahman affectionately patted the children on the head and laughed along with their conversations.

At that time, the Prime Minister cut a cake together with the children. He personally distributed chocolates, toffees, lollipops and gift bags among them. While handing out chocolates and toffees, he asked the children, "Is anyone left? Did everyone get theirs?"

The Prime Minister also playfully asked, "Whose birthday is today?" In response, several children excitedly shouted, "Mine, Uncle! Mine!"

The premier then replied, "Today is everyone's birthday. Come, let's cut the cake together." Then, the Prime Minister and the children cut the cake together amid loud applause inside the room. The children happily chanted, "Happy, happy, happy day! Happy, happy birthday!" At that time, a child even fed a piece of cake to the Prime Minister.

Expressing her joy, a little girl named Ariba said, "I can't express how happy I am to see Prime Minister uncle. We had fun eating cake together. Uncle also ate cake. It was so much fun. Uncle is very nice and very sweet."

Showing the dolls, chocolates and lollipops she received, Ariba added, "Look, uncle also gave us gifts."

Day-Care Center official Mahia Tasnuva Tamanna briefed the Prime Minister on how the children are cared for at the facility.

At that time, the Prime Minister asked about the food served to the children and emphasized ensuring their proper mental development.

Women and Children Affairs Minister Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, who accompanied the Prime Minister, said, "The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs operates these day-care centers.

There are currently 20 such centers across the country, including in Dhaka."

He also said, "Children aged between four and six receive services here for around ten and a half hours daily. This center has 60 enrolled children, and 55 were present today."

After spending time at the center, the Prime Minister waved goodbye to the children before leaving.

As he departed, the children waved, bidding farewell to the Prime Minister with Salam (salute).

Surrounded by the children's innocent smiles and affection, the Prime Minister appeared to momentarily forget the pressures of official responsibilities.

State Minister for Land Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin also was present on the occasion, among others.
