
KHULNA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) – Compensation cheques worth around Tk 3 crore for land acquisition were distributed among 38 people at the inauguration ceremony of a three-day land service fair held on the Khulna Collectorate premises today.
Khulna Divisional Commissioner Md Abdullah Harun attended the programme as the chief guest and handed over the cheques to the beneficiaries.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman inaugurated the nationwide land service fair simultaneously from the Land Bhaban at Tejgaon in the capital this morning. The inaugural session was screened live on a giant screen on the Khulna Collectorate premises.
Speaking at the function, officials said the fair aims to ensure easier and faster delivery of various land-related services to the public through digital platforms.
Range DIG Md Rezaul Haque, Additional Police Commissioner Muhammad Shahnewaz Khaled, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Tajul Islam, Khulna City Unit BNP President Advocate SM Shafiqul Alam Mona and General Secretary Shafiqul Alam Tuhin, among others, attended the programme.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Hoore Jannat presided over the function, jointly organised by the Khulna Divisional and District Administration.
Earlier, a colourful procession was brought out from Shaheed Hadis Park in the city marking the occasion.
The procession paraded through different city roads before ending on the Collectorate premises.
Officials of various government and non-government organisations, students and people from different walks of life joined the procession.
During the three-day fair, authorities are providing instant assistance for online land development tax payment, including registration, holding entry and approval through the land.gov.bd service portal. Assistance is also being provided for filing and processing e-mutation applications.
Besides, applications for certified copies of khatians are being accepted and supplied instantly online, while applications for mouza maps are also being received with arrangements for delivery through postal services.
The fair is also facilitating direct distribution of land acquisition compensation cheques, receiving complaints related to land services through public hearings and taking steps for quick resolution through proper procedures.
Visitors are also being provided with counseling and information on different land-related services, while public opinions and suggestions are being collected during the event.
