DHAKA, May 19, 2026 (BSS) - Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain today said the government is planning to introduce a central emergency alarm system at major public hospitals in the capital to ensure the safety of patients, doctors and healthcare workers.

“Initiatives have been taken to introduce a “Code Blue” or emergency alarm system to ensure quick security assistance during emergency situations at hospitals,” he said.

The health minister made the announcement during ventilators and other medical equipment handover ceremony at the Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) in Tejgaon today.

He said the emergency alarm system would initially be launched at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital.

He noted that the government has plans to establish separate police camps to strengthen security at health-related establishments in the Mohakhali area.

He also said one pediatric ventilator has been provided for each of the 10 ICU units at 10 district Sadar hospitals across the country.

These units will be inaugurated within a week after Eid-ul-Azha, he said.
