MEHERPUR, June 04, 2026 (BSS) - Three persons, including two children, were killed in a road accident in the Olinagar area on the Meherpur-Kushtia road in Gangni upazila of the district this evening.

The deceased were easy-bike driver Ariful Islam, 32, son of Md Alauddin of Uttar Shalika village of Sadar upazila, Afrin Ara, 04, daughter of Mahim Ali of the same village and Akbar Ali, 10, son of Sajib Ali of Jhikargacha of Jashore district.

The accident occurred when a locally-made vehicle easy-bike collided head-on with a truck in the area, leaving three injured critically.

Locals rescued them and sent them to hospital where the duty doctor declared them dead.

Gangni Thana OC Uttam Kumar Das said they seized the vehicles.

Legal action will be taken in this regard, he added.
