Chief of ‘Haturi Bahini’ arrested in Madaripur

MADARIPUR, June 10, 2026 (BSS) - Police have arrested Mazharul Sheikh, the alleged leader of the much-discussed “Haturi Bahini” in Rajoir upazila of the district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Rajoir Police Station Aminul Islam said Mazharul Sheikh, 35, had long been known locally as the head of the so-called “Haturi Bahini”. He added that several cases involving allegations of terrorism, assault, vandalism and extortion have been filed against him.

According to police, Mazharul was arrested as the principal accused in a case filed with Rajoir Police Station on May 31, 2026. Following his arrest, he was produced before a court on Tuesday and was later sent to jail.

Confirming the arrest, Madaripur Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman said police operations against those involved in terrorism, extortion and other criminal activities would continue.
