Taka 8.38-cr distributed for land acquisition in Rajshahi

RAJSHAHI, June 10, 2026 (BSS)- Rajshahi District Administration has distributed compensation cheques of Taka  8.38 crore among 25 landowners whose land was acquired for various development projects.

The land was acquired for building Rajshahi Medical University (RMU), road expansion and other development works.
 
Deputy Commissioner Kazi Shahidul Islam distributed the cheques among the beneficiaries at a function at Deputy Commissioner’s Conference today.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that land acquisition is often necessary in the public interest to implement development projects. However, ensuring fair compensation for affected landowners is the government's responsibility. 

He added that the district administration is working to disburse the compensation to landowners through a transparent and efficient process.
 
He further noted that the ongoing development projects in Rajshahi will bring positive changes to the transportation, education, and healthcare sectors, playing a significant role in the region’s economic and social development.
  
Expressing her satisfaction over receiving the compensation one of the beneficiaries Tokena Begum said the compensation after a long wait had brought relief in her.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Mohinul Hasan and Land Acquisition Officer Abhijit Sarkar were present among others.
