
RAJSHAHI, July 9, 2026 (BSS) – The Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) Divisional Office in Rajshahi today conducted a mobile court drive and fined an establishment Tk 8,000 in the Kumarpara Alupotti area of the city for producing and selling cakes without authorization.
During the drive, Cake Bright was fined Tk 8,000 for producing, selling and distributing decorated cakes (birthday cakes) in extremely unhygienic conditions using non-food-grade materials, without obtaining a BSTI Certification Mark (CM) licence.
The mobile court was conducted by Md. Shahriar Islam Nasif, Executive Magistrate of the Rajshahi District Administration.
Engineer Junaid Ahmed, an official of the Certification Marks Wing of the BSTI Divisional Office, Rajshahi, served as the prosecutor.
Members of the Rajshahi Metropolitan Police were present during the drive.
BSTI said such drives will be conducted regularly to prevent food adulteration and ensure the supply of quality food products in the public interest.
