NATORE, July 09, 2026 (BSS)- A fast and affordable Speed Postal Service has been launched at main post office here aiming delivery of documents and parcels to the capital within 24 hours and any destination across the country within 48 hours.
The parcel service was introduced primarily to facilitate transportation of seasonal fruits. Under the service, the delivery charge is only Taka 10 for the first kilogram and Taka 5 for each additional kilogram.
Through this extensive postal network, customers can conveniently send their fruits or any other legally permissible goods.
The service also offers parcel tracking, allowing customers to monitor the status of their consignments from home. As a result, the service minimizes the risk of lost of shipments or delayed deliveries.
Al Amin, a teacher at Dhakopara Qawmi Madrasa, booked a 23-kg consignment of mangoes at the Natore Main Post Office on July 6. The shipment reached its destination in Barguna within just 44 hours.
"Previously, I used courier services to send fruits. Deliveries took much longer and the cost was higher. The post office's service is far more convenient. My mangoes reached their destination quickly and at a much lower cost. I would encourage everyone to send fruits or other goods through the post office," he told BSS.
President of the Natore Press Club Md. Shahidul Haque Sarkar said the introduction of the Speed Postal Service had been beneficial for users.
"We can now send important documents to Dhaka and other destinations easily. Compared to private courier services, Speed Post is not only more economical but also provides tracking facilities, making it a dependable option for sending the important documents," he said.
General Secretary of the Natore Press Club, Kamrul Islam, said public awareness about the service remains limited and emphasized the need for wider publicity.
Postal Operator at the Natore Main Post Office Md. Kamruzzaman said three Mail and Sorting Offices located in Dhaka, Ishwardi and Santahar handle the transportation of Speed Postal Consignments.
He said parcels destined for northern districts are sent by train to Santahar before being forwarded to their final destinations. Shipments bound for southern regions are transported by the postal department's own vehicles to Ishwardi and then dispatched onward, while consignments for Dhaka and other areas are processed through the capital.
Postmaster of the Natore Main Post Office Shafiqul Islam said the postal service was once the country's primary means of sending letters and parcels.
"Through the Speed Postal Service, we want to restore public confidence in the postal system. Our parcel transportation is highly secured and people can use this service with complete peace of mind," he told BSS.
