RANGPUR, July 13, 2026 (BSS) – Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Tuesday arrested two alleged killers from Joypurhat and Bogura on charges of murdering   farmer Mofizar Rahman of Umarpur village of Pirganj upazila of Rangpur district. 

 The arrestees are Md Golam Rabbani, 28, of village Satana Alirhat under Panchbibi police station of Joypurhat and Shahidul Islam, 54, of village Purandar under Gobindaganj police station of Gaibandha, a RAB-13 press release said. 

 According to a case, filed by the victim's brother,   the  farmer Mofizar Rahman was guarding an irrigation transformer in his irrigation house in Umarpur village of Pirganj upazila on the night of May 6, 2026.

 On the morning of May 7, 2026, the victim's family members found the blood-spattered body of Mofizar Rahman inside the irrigation house.
 After killing him, the miscreants stole the transformer and fled away.
The victim’s brother Manuar Hossain filed a murder case against unknown accused at Pirganj police station on May 7, 2026. 

 On a tip off, a joint team of RAB-13 from Rangpur and RAB-5 from Joypurhat in a  raid arrested alleged killer Md Golam Rabbani from village Ratanpur (Raipur) under Panchbibi police station of Joypurhat at 3:30 pm on Tuesday.

 In another raid, a joint team of RAB-13 from Rangpur arrested alleged killer Shahidul Islam from Jundah Bazar under Palashbari police station of Gaibandha at 8:30 pm on Tuesday.

 The arrested persons have been handed over to Pirganj police station of Rangpur for further legal action.
