JASHORE, July 18, 2026 (BSS)- An elderly man was killed in a road accident at 
Nurbag Circle of Nowapara Bazar in Abhaynagar upazila of the district today.

The deceased was Osman Fakir, 65, son of late Shariful Fakir of Dhopadi 
village of the upazila.

Police said the accident occurred when a Khulna-bound speedy truck hit Osman 
in the area, leaving him injured critically. 

Locals rescued him and sent to Abhaynagar Upazila Health Complex where the 
on-duty doctors declared Osman's dead.

Locals seized the bus. However, its driver and helper managed to escape the 
scene.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Abhaynagar Thana Mohammad Nuruzzaman confirmed the 
incident saying legal process will be taken in this regard.
