CHATTOGRAM, Aug 18, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram WASA has initiated a project to expand the number of water ATM booths, aiming to provide more accessible and high-quality water services to the residents of the city.

Chattogram WASA Managing Director Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam announced that the organization plans to establish between 20 to 30 water ATM booths within the next six months. He emphasized that the primary goal of these ATM booths is to offer affordable potable water to the community. The installation of these booths will be prioritized in areas predominantly occupied by low-income populations, taking into account the specific needs of the residents.

Chattogram WASA intends to implement these ATM booths in collaboration with various development organizations and international NGOs. The installation efforts will be carried out jointly by Water Aid and Chittagong WASA. These ATM booths will source water from WASA and utilize a UV filtration system to ensure the provision of safe drinking water at a low cost.

In this context, Managing Director Engineer Selim Md. Jane Alam noted that since individuals, including pedestrians, can access and collect safe drinking water from these ATM booths, there has been a significant demand from various areas for their establishment.
