RANGPUR, Aug 31, 2026 (BSS) - An assistant engineer of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) was killed after being hit by a truck while on his way to office in the Kellaband area of the city today.

The deceased was identified as Md Dilwar Hossain, 48, an assistant engineer at the Rangpur Sadar Upazila DPHE office.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station under Rangpur Metropolitan Police Md Nazmul Quader said Engineer Dilwar Hossain was heading to his office at the Rangpur Sadar Upazila DPHE office on his motorcycle.

When he reached the Kellaband area, a truck heading to Saidpur from Rangpur hit his motorcycle from behind at around 12:30 pm, leaving him dead on the spot.

“Necessary legal action has been taken in connection with the accident,” the OC added.
