Venezuela closes Colombia border before president's inauguration: governor

CARACAS, Jan 10, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Venezuela closed its border with Colombia on Friday ahead of President Nicolas Maduro's inauguration, the governor of a frontier state said, citing an "international conspiracy".

"We have information about an international conspiracy to disturb Venezuelans' peace... we will order by instruction of President Nicolas Maduro the closure of the border with Colombia" until Monday morning, said Tachira governor Freddy Bernal.
