LONDON, May 3, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - UK leader Keir Starmer congratulated Australia's left-leaning Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on his Saturday general election victory, saying the two countries "are as close as ever".

"I know that we will continue to work together on our shared ambitions" Starmer wrote on X, hailing their "collaboration on defence", support for Ukraine and their joint AUKUS security agreement with the United States.
