WARSAW, June 1, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - Polling stations opened in Poland on Sunday for a tight presidential election runoff that will have major implications for the country's role in Europe, and for abortion and LGBTQ rights.

Opinion polls have predicted an extremely close race with nationalist historian Karol Nawrocki and pro-EU Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski neck and neck ahead of the vote, which closes at 9:00 pm (1900 GMT).
