MOSCOW, Oct 24, 2025 (BSS/AFP) - An overnight Ukrainian drone attack injured a young boy and four others in a Moscow suburb, Russian officials said Friday.

The drone hit an apartment on the 14th floor of a residential building in Krasnogorsk, the governor of the Moscow region, Andrey Vorobyov, said on Telegram.

Russia's defence ministry meanwhile said it had downed 111 Ukrainian drones.

Russia has continued heavy bombardments on Ukraine, targeting key energy infrastructure ahead of winter, drawing tit-for-tat attacks. However the capital Moscow and its surrounding area are rarely targeted by Kyiv.

Kyiv's Western allies have ratcheted up pressure on Moscow as the war enters its fourth winter, with the United States and European Union both announcing new sanctions this week on Russian energy aimed at crippling its war economy.

EU leaders also took steps towards funding Ukraine's defence for another two years, although they stopped short of greenlighting a mammoth "reparations loan" backed by frozen Russian assets.
