Four brick kilns fined Taka 19 lakh in Nilphamari

RANGPUR, Jan 9, 2026 (BSS) - A mobile court jointly initiated by the 
Department of Environment (DoE) and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), in daylong 
drives, fined four brick kilns Taka 19 lakh in Saidpur upazila of Nilphamari 
district on Thursday.
 
The court also demolished the chimneys of two other brick kilns during the 
raids for violating the related laws, a RAB-13 press release said here this 
afternoon.
 
Led by an Executive Magistrate of Nilphamari District Administration, 
representatives of the Fire Service and Civil Defense (FSCD), the DOE and 
police participated in the drives conducted at different places of the 
upazila.
 
The mobile court was conducted after receiving information about the use of 
excessive sulfur, coal containing ash and mercury and the establishment of 
brick kilns without permits in Dinajpur district. 
 
The mobile court fined brick kiln owners Md Obaidul Islam Taka five lakh, Md 
Ejaz Ahmed Dolua Taka 4.50 lakh, Surez Singhania Taka five lakh and Md 
Amdasul Haque Taka 4.50 lakh, totaling Taka 19 lakh during the raids.
 
The court also demolished chimneys of two brick kilns at different places of 
the area during the raids, the release added.
