KATHMANDU, Nepal, April 22, 2026 (BSS/AFP) - Nepal's home minister Sudan Gurung announced his resignation on Wednesday amid growing criticism over his financial transactions since his election last month on an anti-corruption platform.

Gurung, 38, said he was stepping down to ensure a "fair investigation" into matters related to him.

"I have resigned from the position of Home Minister with effect from today," he posted on his social media accounts.
